Niagra Falls

I don't mean like in vacation. I mean like in Raegan's bed at night. We have been hard-core no pull-ups for two weeks, but have NOT been having much success. I limit (aka restrict) liquids past 7, take her to the bathroom around 11, and again at 2 or so. I know, miserable. Somehow, between ALL of these fun night time bathroom trips, she is still wetting the bed twice a night.
Where all of this liquid was coming from was beyond me. As I sat here pondering, something dawned on me. I said,
"Raegan, did you drink any water in the bathtub tonight?"
"Yes."
"How much water?"
"Five."

The answer "five" would entail five CUPS of water. Big cups. I found out that she has been doing this every night. I get Greyson out of the tub, and leave her in there to play. Duh. Why this hasn't dawned on me until now, I don't know. We will be wearing a pull-up tonight, and I will be taking all drinkable toys out of the bathtub. Just a little tip for all you other panicked pull-up parents.

I promise, just a picture to illustrate a pull-up of another kind. Not because this guy has an incredible back.

I love Monday

I am loving the fact that it's Monday. This weekend was packed with so many things at our house, so we have been relaxing all day. Erick's mom and niece came into town on Thursday, I played a couple of places Friday and Saturday, and Sunday was the relay and a youth orchestra concert. I went straight from limping off of the 5K leg (thanks to Jesse who switched with me), into my conducting hat. I'm so proud of my friends who stared fear in the face yesterday at the marathon. Besides the bone-chilling temps, it wasn't half bad. Sorry I don't really have any good pictures of everything. I did get a good one of Raegan and her cousin Katie, though. I already miss you Grandma Nona !

Grandma is OBSESSED with bubble machines and bought one for our backyard.

Dentist and walking

Mommy dearest strikes back.

Walking in his favorite spot - the street. I'm in trouble.

"How do you like me now...."

I may have missed documenting Greyson's first steps today, but at least I got this picture of Toby Keith and Erick. He came to Erick and Ryan's studio this afternoon to record a radio commercial. I think Erick was going to try to do the classic arm around his shoulder move, but realized he's a bit of a GIANT. On a side note, Greyson is now walking. Everywhere.

I'll show you a monster...

Cleaning out the garage, Raegan discovered my old dental x-rays. Upon inspection, she promptly informed me that I had 'monster teeth', and needed to go to the dentist. Maybe I'm not filling-free, but monster teeth? Ouch. Yeah, we're ALL going to the dentist Wednesday. That'll teach her to insult mommy dearest. MMMWWAA HA HA HA HA.....

Kathy

Meet the newest addition to our family - pet worm Kathy. NOT going to be such a good morning when Raegan discovers Kathy had a rough night in her new 'home.' (Plastic bug farm catch-all contraption) Anyone wanna come over and help me dig for another albino worm whose poop shows right through it's worm-skin? Yeah, didn't think so.

As good as it gets

I should be cleaning my house right now, because I have to teach in a couple of hours. But as I was vacuuming, I couldn't stop thinking about how blessed we are. My thoughts actually started out about how I wanted to blog about the semi-chaos that my daughter is creating around our house right now, with her constant emotional ups and downs. Hot and cold, loving and screaming and whining. I know I'm being tested with all of this right now, and as I constantly lose patience with my own shortcomings as a mom and at the three year old battles I face on a daily basis, I was just reminded about how blessed I am. I really feel like God is trying to remind me to enjoy these moments, and that we aren't always guaranteed health, a home, job security, acceptance....the list continues. Although things are in general wonderful for our family, I know that this could change overnight. I just pray that God can help me see these daily 'battles' as trivial, and to be able to see the MUCH, MUCH bigger picture.
