Happy Father's Day, Erick

Feeling a little hypocritical this morning. If I had the abiility to hyperlink you back to my post about Mother's Day, I would do so at this moment. I vaguely remember saying something about getting wished a delayed Mother's Day greeting from my family, receiving a last minute scribbled card, and my two lamps a day after Mother's Day. I will now eat my words. I was terrible this year about accomplishing ANYTHING for Father's Day. I have not managed to get him the shoes from Shoe Gypsy that I had intended, and didn't even scribble him a card. Last night before going to bed, I quickly blog stalked the family with quadruplets to see what the mom had done for the dad. Dismayed to see a beautiful edited video documenting his Fatherhood journey thus far...needless to say I closed the screen as quickly as I had opened it as Erick strolled by the computer. I'm sure he went to bed thinking I was looking at some questionable website.
The thing I love about Erick is that he doesn't care about receiving stuff...(okay, he would have loved a card). I say this to make myself feel a little better, and also to remember the true meaning of the day. If I hadn't sat through church wrestling a one year old during the entire service yesterday, I could probably quote our minister word for word on word on what our Fathers' really need. I remember him saying respect, our support, and knowing that we are behind them in all that they do. I may not have given you any obvious or tangible gift this year, but I do promise you to respect and love you as as the best Dad and husband that I could have asked for. We love you!
(From now on, I will be calling all blog entries that are intended to serve the purpose of an overdue card 'blards'. So honey, this is my blard to you..)

Father daughter bonding

They may have missed the tea party at church, but it hasn't seemed to affect their relationship any.

A favorite summer tradition. Staying up late with Daddy to watch America's Funniest Home Videos.

A good and nauseous Dad.

Informing Dad that he had hairy legs, and she would brush them for him before he left for work.

It's 5:00 - do I know where my husband is?

The answer to the previous question would be no! Erick is working a lot lately, and has been working 12 hour days. Right now he is helping Ryan (see creepy guy hiding in foliage above) put on Big Magic Book shows (basically a high tech puppet show) at libraries across the State. (and yes, I really like parentheses) I think they are in Blanchard and Midwest City today. Anyway, whenever you get a chance to head to one of the metro. libraries to see the show, it is really fun. Plus, you get to see a hilarious cameo by Lucas dressed in a bee outfit. What more could you ask for?

Anyhoo, (hate that word-just seemed appropriate) I have been enjoying hanging out at home with the kids and my un-showered self. It's good I live in a city and am forced to leave the house and see people sometimes. It scares me to think what we would look like if no one else were around. Also, I can tell that my reclusive and isolated last few days are beginning to mess with my head. For instance, this is a really long and random post. I have so many thoughts swirling in my head about what I would like to write about - like how weird is it to find yourself picking crumbs and random food particles off of your child AND EATING THEM like you are a mother gorilla. Or how I think this blog really bores (maybe even grosses out due to previous comment) all of you people that aren't in toddler and baby land to tears, and how I wish you would start a blog about your day to day, and how interesting that would be to ME. I love life with kids, and love remembering life before kids, and looking forward to life after kids. Actually, that probably never will happen....you know what I mean. I just enjoy hearing stories from all stages in life.

Thanks for staying despite the private thing. I'm sure it will start wearing on me soon, and you'll find me back in blogosphere with no holds barred.

Thanks Andrea for letting us know the location of the shoes. Greyson hasn't quit saying 'ca-ca, ca-ca' since he put them on. That's 'car' for all of you sickos. :)

Read 'em and weep. The last GLORIOUS black and white patio rug that was half off at Hobby Lobby. Needless to say, I'm very pleased.

Domesticated mama

I don't fancy myself much of a domestic goddess, but being off work these past two weeks has fooled me into believing it just might be possible. I won't bore you with all of the domestic details, but I will show you a picture of the backyard my mom helped me OVERHAUL this past weekend. She is a wonder-woman. Root chopping, hoe digging, stump hauling, canna-planting ANGEL. If you knew how to turn a computer on and check this blog, I would tell you how much I love you, Mom. Maybe Dad can show you.

Tuck's early morning strawberry breakfast

The first things I have ever planted and not killed. Hen and chicks, and clematis.

Thanks for making it through this very exciting post. If you haven't yet, send me you e mail address!

If you read this blog

I have been thinking a lot lately about blogging, privacy, and the information I post about my family being available to anyone in the world. Kind of weird sometimes. I think for a while at least, I'm going to make this blog available to my friends only. So if you aren't a crazed lunatic, a creepy peeping tom, or a general nut-case, (I know that rules out a lot of you ;) , I beg you to send me your e mail address in the next few days so I can add you as a friend. (Even if you stalk here, but never comment...I know I do that plenty!) I know it's a hassle to have to sign in to view someone's blog, but I just have to do it for a while. I won't make it private for a few more days, but go ahead and send me you e mail addresses PLEASE! (my address should be on my profile)

Little weirdo

Erick calls Greyson his little weirdo because he is obsessed with pushing things he loves (remotes, screwdrivers, random metal objects, and old car keys) in his sister's baby stroller. I think he's a sweet little weirdo.

Liquid bad, detergent good

This is what happens when you top off the soap dispenser with a little dishwashing liquid. I think it's about to blow up, much like Erick is going to do when he finds out about this. So if you don't see me tomorrow, you know I'm working in a sweat shop to pay for a new one. (And no, Erick is not going to blow up....sometimes I just think he should get mad about SOMETHING once in a while).

***Update*** 20 minutes later - Thanks to Al Gore and the beauty of the Internet, I now know that vinegar and salt will neutralize suds, consequently leading to a healthy dishwasher. My kitchen smells like a science experiment, but I figure that's a small price to pay.
